Padres take game 2 of the opening series

PADRES WIN 2-1
In what many have come to expect at Petco, the Padres rode a solid outting by Chris Young, and scored only 2 runs, yet outdueled the Houston Astros in game 2 of the 4 game series and beat them 2-1.
Chris Young looked very good in his first start, however by the 5th inning it was clear that he was gassed. Understandable being his first regular season start, and considering that he was still very in control. After putting runners on, he was lifted and Thatcher took over. Unfortuanatetly Thatcher wasn't able to completely stop the bleeding and one run was pushed across before he slammed the door.

Scott Hairston connected for a 2 run shot to LF that went into the top tank. This was the only scoring the Padres did, or needed. Hairston is filling in for Jim Edmonds while he's on the DL, and most expect him to slide over to LF once Edmonds is back with the team.
The Padres go for their 3rd win of the season and series tonight at Petco with the ageless Greg Maddux on the mound. Expect the same lineup as we've seen the past two nights with maybe only a change in LF. I've heard, but can't substantiate that Jody Gerut might get his first start of the year, but other sources are suggesting that PMac is going to continue seeing playing time. Either way lets keep the winning going boys !!!
Play Ball !!!
