Great news Friar fans.......... Jake is taking the bump today in the finale.......
Don't miss outSAN DIEGO -- Jake Peavy, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, is on his way back to the Padres' starting rotation.
Peavy will be activated from the disabled list to start on Thursday against the Dodgers at PETCO Park. It will be his first appearance since May 14.
Peavy was placed on the disabled list on May 20 (retroactive to May 15) with a sprained right elbow.
Peavy, who was 4-3 with a 2.91 ERA in nine starts, threw a simulated game on Saturday, throwing 61 pitches to teammates before the Padres
faced the Mets. He admitted some degree of rust, though pronounced himself healthy.
"It wasn't crisp by any means, but I came out of it healthy," Peavy said. "Just have to get better than that before I pitch in a Major League baseball game, I know that."
Peavy will also start on Tuesday against New York at Yankee Stadium.
"We felt the timeline was right to slot him in there Thursday," Padres manager Bud Black said.
