Maddux was outstanding in his start against the hot young Dodger prospect Clayton Kershaw, but wouldn't factor in the decision yet again. Maddux went 6 strong only giving up 1 run, and turned it over to the bullpen with a 2-1 lead, but the 7th inning proved costly as the defense and bullpen couldn't get out of their own way. The Dodgers put up 4 runs in the 7th, then 2 more in the 9th, and that was all she wrote. The 5 game streak came to a screeching halt, and the boys let another winnable game slip away. The top of the order did their jobs getting on base, but the bottom of the order failed miserably to move or score them when they did.
