Padres get unexpected power and win game 2

Randy Wolf was outstanding AGAIN last night going 7 strong, giving up only 4 hits, walking only 1, striking out 9, and surrendering only 1 run. It was a brilliant start by the crafty veteran who had it all working, and had it all working in all parts of the zone. He kept the Dodgers off balance all night, and was never really in trouble ever.

But the real story happened in the 1st inning, when Edgar Gonzalez connected off of a Billingsley fastball and sent it off the 2nd deck in LF for his 1st major league HR. Edgar has been playing full time since Iguchi hit the DL, and quite frankly is making a case for himself as an everyday starter. He's currently hitting .296BA w/ a .367 OBP. Not bad at all

Khalil Greene got into the act with a BOMB the opposite way onto the beach in Rt/Ctr for his 6th of the year, and the Padres went on to an easy victory in game 2. Khalil has been having his issues with the bat this year, and seems to be struggling overall for that matter, but it's a very good sign when he's able to go the opposite field with such authority. It could be a sign that he's coming out of his funk and primed for one of his famous white hot streaks. Lets all hope that's the case.

FYI Friar Fans.........Jake Peavy is slated to toe the rubber in the series finale tomorrow......so don't forget to tune in for his 1st game back.
