Well it was Josh Banks called on to welcome the NY Mets to town, and he picked right back up from where he left off in his last start. Being virtually untouchable ! Banks went 6 strong innings, scattered 5 hits, walked zero (again), and struckout 3. Unfortunately he would not factor into the decision, but as we all know he earned the W even if it's not on his column. This was his 2nd outstanding start in a row, and with Peavy coming back to the rotation soon, something will have to give, but I doubt it's going to be the spot in the rotation occupied by Josh Banks. This kid is rapidly earning a name for himself in the NL.
The Mets failed to score in the 9th inning, and left the door open for more late inning heroics, but the question was could the Padres threaten, and then who would come up big this time.
Scott Schoeneweis walked the bases loaded, and the stage was set for a PMac to come up with the big clutch hit........until he was drilled by the first pitch of his AB, forcing in the run from 3rd and resulting in a Padres win. PMac was mobbed at 1st the second he got there, and the first person to arrive was Trevor Hoffman....Not exactly how they wrote the script for a victory, but in this 2008 season I'm pretty sure we're all wondering what's next for bizarre happenings.......I guess so long as we win, who cares how ?
