Padres SWEEP the Mets

Gerut & Giles both went 3 for 5, but Paul McAnulty was the guy having a great weekend, and he capped it off by going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI keeping his team in the game.
But the real story came in the bottom of the 8th inning when Tony Clark was asked to pinch hit. Up until today Clark has been virtually invisible on this team, but he 'announced his presence with authority' as he smashed a 3 run HR over dead center and put the Padres on top for good, and securing the 4 game sweep over the Mets. It was a no doubter and all Carlos Beltran could do was make a vain effort and watch as the ball sailed 420' over his head. It was Clarks 1st HR as a Padre and it came at the expense of a Wagner blown save.

Enter Hoffy, bells tolled and when the dust settled Trevor had notched Save # 14/538.
