Padres dump opener in Atlanta

Padres fall short 5-3 vs. Braves

The Padres finally extra base hits, move runners, score some runs, get a lead and it's the starting pitching that flounders......This team needs a break and it's not getting one. Chris Young had a rare bad outting, and got touched up by Chipper Jones who is on fire right now, and despite a 9th inning rally the Padres couldn't overcome a very tough Braves team during game 1 of the series.

Brian Giles went 4-5 with a double raising his season avg. up to .286, and Tad Iguchi had two hits, including a triple, and also is starting to finally hit the way we all know he can.....question remains is it too late to salvage the season ?

Friday the Padres are expected to make some roster changes that could impact things in a big way. Whether its for better or worse remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, a complete shakedown is on the horizon, and veteran players are appear to be in the cross hairs.

I'll be back with those updates and or the rumors surrounding the possible moves soon, so keep checking back. I will also be giving up farm updates hopefully this week on our prospects, some of whom are receiving national recognition.
